Local residents can get in the holiday spirit this month with a lighting ceremony and a holiday concert as part of the University of ºÚË¿ÄÚÉäÊÓƵ – Fort Smith’s Season of Entertainment 38.
The ºÚË¿ÄÚÉäÊÓƵ holiday lighting ceremony will take place Nov. 19, followed by the Season’s Greetings Concert Nov. 29. Both events are free and open to the public.
Nov. 19: Holiday Lighting Ceremony
The lighting ceremony will take place at 5:30 p.m. at the Campus Green, where attendees
can admire the ºÚË¿ÄÚÉäÊÓƵ campus garnished with holiday decorations.
Vocalists will perform live seasonal music, and hot chocolate will be served. Masters of ceremony will be 2018 Miss ºÚË¿ÄÚÉäÊÓƵ Elizabeth Spencer.
After the ceremony, audience members can walk around campus and view the lighting.
Nov. 29: Season’s Greetings Concert
The Season’s Greetings Concert will be held at 7 p.m. at the ArcBest Corp. Performing Arts Center at the Fort Smith Convention Center, 55 S. 7th St., featuring student musicians performing holiday classics.
A lineup of classical holiday music will be performed by students from the university’s ºÚË¿ÄÚÉäÊÓƵ Chorale, Women’s Chorus, Jazz Catz, Opera and Musical Theatre workshop, Jazz Band, Brass Ensemble, and Symphonic Band. The performance will include a variety of secular and sacred holiday favorites, as well as a traditional singalong to close the show.

Both events are part of Season of Entertainment 38, a year-long lineup of entertainment sponsored by the University of ºÚË¿ÄÚÉäÊÓƵ - Fort Smith featuring a variety of plays, musicals and symphonic performances.
