˿Ƶ Named One of US News' Best Colleges of 2025
The University of ˿Ƶ – Fort Smith has been named one of U.S. News & World Report’s 2025 Best Colleges according to rankings released this morning. ˿Ƶ improved in multiple categories, securing its position as a leading institution in the state and region.
˿Ƶ rose to Number 6 Top Public School in the Regional Colleges South category. The university also climbed to Number 22 in the overall Regional Colleges South category, further establishing its reputation for providing high-quality education that is accessible to students in ˿Ƶ and beyond.
“Our rise in these key categories is a direct result of the hard work and dedication
of our faculty, staff, and students, and we are thrilled to see our progress recognized
on a national stage.” said ˿Ƶ Chancellor Dr. Terisa Riley.
Rankings Breakdown
˿Ƶ’s leap in the rankings reflects a steady upward trajectory over the past few years. The university’s current standing at No. 22 in Regional Colleges South marks a jump from last year’s No. 34 ranking and an even more impressive rise from No. 48 two years ago. Similarly, ˿Ƶ’s ranking at No. 6 in Top Public Schools – Regional Colleges South improves upon last year’s No. 7 placement and the No. 12 spot it held the previous year.
The report also highlighted ˿Ƶ’s national rankings in key academic programs. The university earned recognition for its Business, Computer Science, and Nursing programs, showcasing its dedication to delivering excellence across a broad range of disciplines.
In addition, ˿Ƶ was ranked No. 58 in the Top Performers on Social Mobility category. This national distinction underscores of promoting economic and social mobility for its students and the community.
“On campus, it’s easy to see how our mission of transforming lives and uplifting communities is playing out in the lives of our students,” added Chancellor Riley. “I have the luxury of hearing every day how they have earned top placement at graduate schools, landed internships in incredibly competitive industries, and taken up the charge to serve as leaders across the state. These rankings are so rewarding, because they are a confirmation that I’m not the only one hearing those stories, and that the positive impact we are making is being recognized across the country.
